The Object
A shape that breaks the light.
The Iron Icon is built from flat steel planes, not curves. Every facet meets the fire at a different angle, and returns its light differently. What stands quietly, almost geologically, in daylight begins to work after dark: planes brighten, edges draw themselves, the body gains depth.
The hexagonal fire opening is deliberately generous. The rim around it is not decoration — it is work surface, resting place and grill plate at once.

Material
Steel that accepts time.
Untreated steel does not stay as it is. It takes on weather, darkens, turns deep rust-brown — and in doing so forms a layer that protects the core beneath. This is not a defect that arrives eventually. It is the state the object is heading towards.
If you prefer it dark, the bowl comes blackened: matte, deep, carrying the marks the fire leaves itself. Both finishes keep ageing. Neither looks the same in five years as it did on day one — which is precisely the point.
Natural corten
Use
One object, three rituals.
A fire bowl that only burns sits unused eleven months a year. The Iron Icon does more than glow.
Fire
Warmth and light at the centre of the terrace. The optional glass wind guard keeps the flame steady in wind and shields it against sparks.
Grill
The wide steel rim gets hot and stays hot. Meat, vegetables, bread — straight onto the surface, with the embers beside rather than beneath. Nothing drips, nothing flares, everything stays within reach.
Swing arm
The arm carries a Dutch oven, kettle or grate over the open flame, and swings clear of the fire when things move too fast.
Workshop
Built, not produced.
The Iron Icon is made in a metalworking shop, not on a production line. Every plane is cut, folded, fitted and welded by hand. The seams are ground back until the facets run cleanly into one another.
That takes longer than any series production and does not scale on demand. In return, the result outlasts most of the gardens it stands in.
Every bowl carries its own brass plaque — origin and number, set into the steel.
For Hotels & Hospitality
A reason to stay outside.
A terrace without a heat source closes in September. With an Iron Icon it doesn't — and it gains a centre that guests gather around on their own.

Placement & operation
- Firm, non-combustible ground. The weight requires a level, load-bearing surface.
- Plan delivery with a crane or forklift — the bowl cannot be carried by hand.
- Keep clearances to buildings, planting and roofing as required locally.
- Use untreated, dry firewood only. No accelerants.
- Never leave the fire unattended. The steel stays hot long after it goes out.
- Care: remove ash, let water drain. Surface rust is intended, not damage.
